Her most recent endeavors have included getting scuba-certified in Belize (where she brought home a fuzzy souvenir, her dog Beliza!), running the 2004 LA Marathon with brother, Chris, and dad, Buck, and trekking to Yosemite National Park to train in preparation for Kilimanjaro. Her other keen passions are photography, documentaries, animals, the outdoors and any activity that includes silly behavior!
After graduating from Dickinson College in 1995, Laticia spent a year living and working in London , England and Dublin , Ireland . Her time there also included a two-month backpacking trip throughout Europe where she camped and hiked in the Swiss Alps. In 1997, after returning to the States, Laticia moved to Washington , D.C. , where she worked in post-production for the Discovery Channel. She then branched into the production arena, where she was part of a team producing various television specials such as TNT's "A Very Special Christmas" at the White House, ABC's "American Music Awards," and NBC's "71st Academy Awards."
In 1999, Laticia moved to the City of Angels , the artsy Venice Beach area to be specific. She started working for E! Entertainment Television on the Emmy-nominated flagship program "E! True Hollywood Story" and spent three years producing over a dozen shows, including The Village People, Jaws, The Price is Right, Ginger Lynn, Welcome Back, Kotter, Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Gia, Scott Hamilton, OJ Simpson and Anna Nicole Smith.
In July of 2002, Laticia resigned from E! and took a break from television production to go on a month-long teaching trip to China with her mother, Jan, a third grade teacher in her hometown of Lewistown , Pennsylvania . As two of 33 other teachers on the trip, Jan and Laticia taught English and American culture and customs to over 400 Chinese children of various ages. Laticia also served as the group's videographer. This experience greatly broadened her horizons and was a special one to share with her mom, who she credits as “giving her the wings that have allowed her to fly.”
Since China , Laticia has been a busy freelancer who has produced a variety of television programs in the reality, lifestyle, beauty and fashion genres. Last year, she transitioned into the documentary world, an arena she believes to be powerful and important. She built and managed a new documentary division for Participant Productions, a film company in Beverly Hills dedicated to using the power of media for positive social change. This is where she met Lance Trumbull and came to learn about The Everest Peace Project.
Quote from Laticia:
“This is a dream come true! Africa , to me, has always been that faraway, exotic land that has fascinated me, piqued my curiosity, and touched my heart. Mt. Kilimanjaro has long been on my list of places to visit so I already feel a soulful connection to this mountain. I always knew I wouldn't go to Africa until the perfect time presented itself, so I guess this is what I've been waiting for! And I can't think of a better reason to go than a “Climb for Peace” that unites and inspires everyone who is a part of it. I'm thrilled to be a part of such an ambitious and admirable endeavor. The world now, more than ever, needs more crusades like THIS one to unite people and make stronger the bonds that bind us together as humans and with the amazing earth on which we live."
